The Perk- Tuesday afternoon

Jaina had mixed feelings about the fact that they were still here. She didn't mind it. The kids were having fun, Jag wasn't as stressed, she didn't have to deal with the Empire. But this wasn't normal life, either.

Plus there was still a threat out there, and Jaina wasn't getting annoyed that she wasn't aware of any progress on that. Maybe she needed to make a visit. If she was the target of anything, good luck to them, so she wasn't worried about that. And in the meantime she'd take some time at a table with coffee and a datapad to check over some reports on what was going on over there.

Pick Your Poison, Tuesday

The heat would not be kind to some of the plants in Pick Your Poison's garden; Pam knew as much. So she'd spent some time moving some items around, putting up some sheets to create more areas of shade.

Yes, oftentimes, it was best to let nature do her own work. But sometimes - like in these times of manmade disaster - you had to help her.

The store was open. The correct sign was on the door. If anyone needed Pam, though, she'd be in the garden, checking on all the plants, making a note of which to water later, when the sun went down.

Fandom Radio, Tuesday, July 1st

Hey there Fandom, it's me, ya girl, Arden Finch, welcoming you into July by telling you all the cool things that we did to finish up June. Which, judging by the size of this stack, isn't really much? Because we're all on vacation, being beach bums, right?

*chittering*

...Or obsessively listening to a single band on repeat. Thank you, squirrels, very vital for you to have brought that up.

Anyway, With nothing happening in School or the Dorms, it was just stuff in Town that rates a mention. We start with Vi changing back from being a kitten over Pride weekend, and anything that happened between her and Steph after that is their business, not ours. Professor Vess was arguing with a crystal ball in the Infinite Consortium, I guess because she didn't like her fortune, probably? Mystery Sign Theater 3000 was showing What Can A Girl Do? and Mayor Faden came by to catch the movie and tease Mr. Barnes about stereotypes and candy. That's...not a very descriptive note, rodents. Pizza Planet saw Raiden putting in orders for a metric BLEEPton of eggs and potatoes....I'm guessing for his new breakfast place? But that's just a guess, there's a holiday coming up, he might be making a kiddie pool's worth of potato salad.

*chittering*

No, I have faith that Raiden wouldn't put raisins or blueberries in his potato salad. He's a Nephilim, not a monster. Professor James Stark bought out the last of the Pride pastries and brought them to the Clinic nurses, and Officer McGarrett was looking at emails at the Trooper Station. The squirrels are making a big deal about him not answering any, but who amongst us has not read an email and decided to just deal with it all later. I click mine back to 'unread' so that it stays at the time of my email. Also, if I get too many unread emails, I start getting twitchy. Fun Finch Facts that nobody asked for! And, lastly, Tiny was making drinks with sparklers in them, and Mr. Northman was nearby with a fire extinguisher to make sure that Devil's Nest didn't end up burning down.

And that's it for this radio! So long Fandom, this is ya girl, Arden Finch, leaving you with How It's Done by Huntr/x! Have a great day!

It didn't take Ignis very long at all to notice a slight difference in the kitchen, when he came into work that day, getting his coffee ready and preparing for thinking up some new recipehs for the specials board. He took a moment to pause and listen, though, before making any comment about it, but, feeling confident, he lifted a brow toward the rest of the staff.

"No Greg today?" he asked.

Apparently, he had a dentist appointment that day, which meant that Ignis could only give him distant kudos for his acceptable levels of dental hygene, but then Ignis also couldn't help notice that the patchouli did still linger, even in his absense, which was why he, for a moment, doubted himself.

Everyone else, it seemed, just were eager to see how this altered their odds when it came to the betting board.

SUMMER 2025 (SESSION 2) WORKSHOP SIGN-UPS

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone! It's time to sign up for your Second Session Summer 2025 Workshops! These sign-ups are open to EVERYONE: students, teachers, and townies. Please read the following before you start signing up:

1) Teacher and Student Class Expectations! The all important guideline for what is expected of the players in Fandom High. Please give it a once-over even if you've seen it in some form or other before - consider it a good thing to click and read while I put up the OCD!

2) Japanese characters, please sign up in the Western style - given name, then family name - to make our alphabetical OCDing easier.

The Important Stuff About Signing Up For Classes

1) Since we've removed the cap on characters, we have also removed the cap on the number of classes your characters can sign up for, but please consider your RL ability to keep up before chucking a character at every class we're offering.

2) If you're a TA for a class, you need to sign up for that class. It will count towards your minimum 2. (Not you, recent grads.) Please note TA-ship in the sign-up for easy of making the class lists accurate. Teachers: please refrain from having your own character act as the TA as it defeats the purpose of having a back-up player to post for you!

3) If it's OOC for your character to take a class but you really want to take it anyway, just sign them up and we'll pretend it was an IG paperwork mishap.

4) If you sign up, please, please try to show up. It lets the mods judge if you're still in the game and it makes the work the teachers are putting into coming up with something fun to interact with so worth it.

5) Class descriptions are subject to change at the teacher's discretion.

6) To be fair to people in all time-zones, sign-ups are not first-come, first-serve.

And now we get to what you really want to see: Summer Workshops! (Session 2)!!!!

FH class sign-ups will close at 11:59pm Eastern on Saturday, July 5, 2025, and are IG knowledge.

General FYI: Feel free to make changes to your class choices as long as you do it before the deadline. We use the final pings in each thread to make the class lists, not the email notifs. Questions or difficulties, please email us - fandomhighadmins (@) iambicnut.com - or drop a question in the Questions thread down below.

PLEASE HOLD WHILE I OCD Go ahead!

Fandom Radio, Monday June 30th

Hello from Greece, where apparently even being on holiday does not absolve me of my duties regarding the news.

The entirety of which is centered around yesterday's Pride Parade in Town, organized by our own wonderful Miss Stephanie Gingrich.

There was a spot for folks to get ready, followed by the parade itself, full of decorated rickshaws and marchers. And of course along the route there were spots to observe the proceedings, which Stark, Steven, and I took advantage of. And of course following all that there was the Post-Parade Park Picnic, which the squirrels would like me to ask you to 'say five times really fast'. Naturally, given that the picnic boasted cupcakes, Stark was there to partake.

And that's all that was noteworthy about yesterday, I'll see you next week.

Trooper Station, Monday

Steve had not opened his stitches trying to win a prize on Saturday, which he was counting as a win. (He was still annoyed that the prize he'd won was dramatically smaller than he was used to.)

He was finally reading through his cache of emails from his Navy buddies expressing that mix of congratulations and commiseration that could only come with leaving a career earlier than you'd intended to. He was far from the only SEAL to have been medically discharged, but it stung enough to read through the messages, however heartfelt, that he couldn't reply back to them just yet.

He stored them carefully in a new folder. He'd get back to them when he could.

For now, he was hoping for some sort of island-wide crime spree, either here or in Honolulu, to take his mind off of it. That looked a lot like staring into space to anyone observing, though.

It was the last day of June and the bakery had an excess of rainbow baked goods to sell and so of course Stark had stopped off for those and iced coffees this morning.

The clinic also had rather a lot of rainbow items to give away, leftovers from the festival and parade.

Stabby was sporting a pair of crab-sized rainbow sunglasses and had a rainbow shot glass full of something in his tank with him and looking very suspicious.

Stark was seated at the desk with a rainbow donut and a frozen coffee concoction topped with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles.

The clinic was open, the crab was possibly doing crime while being queer, and the alien was in.

"Yeah, no, we're going to need a lot more eggs than that...no, a lot more eggs than that. And double the potato order." Raiden had gone out for brunch once and the place had been out of potatoes. Out of potatoes! At Sunday brunch! He was still not emotionally recovered from it, and that would never happen at his restaurant. Potatoes were too precious to run out of. "Listen, I gotta let you go, I've still got this place to run. Yeah. It's gonna be great!"

Hmmm. Today's delivery probably ought to go into the back with the rest of the artifacts she considered too dangerous to be sold to the general public. But the problem was trying to move it. Liliana glared at the standing orb that was nearly the same size as she was and much heavier, as if she could intimidate it into turning into a less obnoxious size.

"Overgrown crystal ball," she muttered at it. "If this results in me having to summon the Gatewatch to see if Mancake or Elf Supremacist have artifact removal, I am going to ask them to exile you somewhere horrid, like the grease trap of a Golgari fungus kitchen."

Okay, but that was a really good threat. Just because the orb was an inanimate object that couldn't appreciate a good threat (and probably lacked the context anyway) didn't take away from the threat's quality and so there.

Fandom Pride Parade, Sunday Noon (6/29)

The parade route was fairly short this year, since Steph actually had no desire to enable anyone with getting heat stroke: just from the causeway along Apocalypse Avenue, then up Chimera Court onto Loon Drive before looping down Minotaur Avenue and into the park.

Steph had spent a lot of time over the past year acquiring and replicating as many vintage Pride protest signs from around the world -- around the multiverse, even -- as she possibly could, and the parade route was outlined with them along with the sparkliest rainbow streamers she could find.

Which were very sparkly indeed, and you might need sunglasses. Actually sunglasses were a good idea in any case, and along with the requisite water and sunscreen there were even free pairs of rainbow-framed sunglasses to be had at the parade starting point if you didn't have any of your own. (Courtesy of one of Steph's store vendors, though there wasn't any kind of brand logo on the sunglasses themselves.)

Little Bot and the Magpie Emporium gremlins acted as grand marshals this year, only last year's shoebox float had been upgraded to a fancy 3D printed setup complete with safety rails and light strings. Behind them was the queer board games group from the store, then Steph with kitty!Vi riding on her shoulder, and after that everyone else who wanted to join in the parade.

And just like last year, the picnic area in the park was still decorated from yesterday, set up with refreshments and the new and even more meticulously curated queer music playlist cranked up on a giant Bluetooth speaker.

[OOC: Shut up it isn't quite noon here yet. Please hold for OCD. Go forth and be gay! Or pan. Or... you get it.]

Los Angeles, Sunday

The news had come in last night, and by 'come in', Jack meant that a single text message had rolled in from Trent at around 3 AM. He'd been the only one to get it - which made sense, because he was the only one who was always awake at 3 AM and everyone knew about it. And then he'd laid there, on the vaguely comfortable hotel bed, staring at the ceiling.

Wondering if he should wake up Dane, or if he needed to come up with something to say to Trent on his own.

In the end, he just texted back. Something something sorry. And an offer, to which he'd gotten no reply.

So it wasn't until morning, with him and Dane stuffed into a booth somewhere in the hotel restaurant, that he said it out loud. )

Fandom Radio - Sunday (6/29)

I've got to make this quick, we're expected in New York shortly.

So, let's get through the main news of yesterday, the Pride Festival. Over where people could gather up and mingle, Steven and Watts complimented the set up and took some pictures for it. In the business area, Stark and Steven talked about upcoming classes. I had a booth set up to give away some merchandise and Steve was so kind to get me drinks and food to survive the day. Don was disappointed in the selection, I promise that there will be more next year. Stark also checked things out after complimenting the dog. Raiden had his pizza place and the new breakfast place represented with Stark checking in about pairing the mimosas with the pizza. Steve got his previously mentioned treats there too. There were also some games to enjoy, like how Steve... other Steve and Danny did. Oh, and the stage too! But I think the heat kept things low key.

But I really do have to run. Have a good one, folks!

Fandom Pride Festival 2025, The Park, All Day Saturday (6/28)

Sure, it was hot as hell out, but it wouldn't really be Pride if you didn't have to be constantly reminded to hydrate, would it? Besides, just like every year there was a rainbow high in the sky above the island, bold and vivid almost in an in-your-face kind of way.

Streamers in various Pride flag colors ran between trees and light fixtures all over the park, shiny rainbow confetti (easier to clean up than glitter!) was everywhere, and once again the bounce house and ballpit slide were at the center of all the activity.

Carnival games and rides, all of them queer-themed in some way, branched out from the bounce house area toward the karaoke stage where the NPC band made up of a bunch of wargamers from the Magpie Emporium was slated to play several sets at various points during the day (with Steph sitting in on drums for a little bit of each set). The barbecue grills in the picnic area were ready to use for anyone who wanted to make their own food, and the vendor tables and booths were set up nearby for the local businesses who'd be participating.

Things might be a little less organized this year, but in Steph's defense she didn't have as much help with the heavy lifting and last-minute details as usual since Vi was a tiny hyperactive kitty right now. Still. She'd done this enough by now to have A System, damn it.

Enjoy your laid back and entirely corporate-free Pride, Fandom!

[OOC: I, meanwhile, am much less organized this year. Sigh. Threads are up! Go forth!]

Fandom Radio, June 28, 2025

What am I--fine, fine, I'll do it, stop jumping on me!

This is Anakin Skywalker. Miss Lydia Bennett is indisposed this morning and so I am here to report on a party I didn't even go to.

*chittering*

No, that's not actually "very helpful" of you. Let's get through classes first, though, shall we? Dr. Blake took the First Aid students through a simulated mass casualty event and Galactic Travel class went to Alderaan.

*awkward pause*

I'm sure they enjoyed that.

*chittering*

No, it's lovely! I just haven't been there in a very long time.

In non-party town news, Rey and I were chasing a porg around her warehouse in a very dignified way and Watts took a break from work at the station for pasta salad with Steven.

*excited porg sounds* And Henry was in a common room.

*sound of massive pile of papers falling over*

Sithspit. There go the party notes. For those of you that aren't aware, Liliana and Ignis threw a garden party in celebration of their engagement and approximately half the island showed up, so strap yourselves in for five minutes of me trying to make small talk sound fascinating.

*chittering*

I do not find small talk fascinating. It's part of why I didn't go to the party. The other part was Christopher's baseball game. Liliana praised Gladio for wearing a shirt to the party and Ignis told Gladio about a box he could use to stuff Prompto into. That's more fun that small talk and I was never allowed to stuff boring Senators into boxes, which would've livened up receptions considerably. Prompto and only-youngling-at-the-party Noctra congratulated Liliana on her engagement and Ignis caught her--Noctra, not Liliana--before she could inflict plant-based injury on herself. Liliana gave Summer the heads-up that Rey wanted to go shopping, and Summer told both members of the happy couple how glad she was not to have to keep the engagement ring a secret any longer. Speaking of Rey, she was there to compliment Summer's dress, and so was Stark.

Liliana asked Arden how she chose the music at the end of her broadcasts, and Arden complimented Ignis on the air at the party, which is definitely a compliment I've never heard before. Lydia told Arden about her sister Mary's wedding, Liliana told Stark she didn't think the administration would let her teach hands-on necromancy and this is absolutely correct, don't do that, Ignis insincerely welcomed Stark and that made him wonder if he should stay to Rey.

Eleanor was praised for her participation in the ethics class and congratulated Ignis, Arden came over to cringe about how she'd complimented the air, and Lydia told Eleanor that today is her birthday and now I see why she's not here. Rey's dress met with Liliana's approval, and Rey complimented Ignis on how nice everything looked, a mistake she realized three seconds after saying it. Luma chose small talk with Liliana and Ignis and Lydia. Liliana gave Lydia birthday diamonds--

*chittering*

--something I'm being assured is not normally a thing, and was also greeted by Ignis and Rey, who complimented Lydia on her ability to blend in at a party. Liliana was pleased to see Don in attendance--so was Ignis, and then flirted with Tony before they worked on planning the party after next week's party. Ignis made sure to check that Tony would be dancing so he could see Liliana and Ignis' new chandelier. Steve and Tony also flirted before Steve made an unseemly dent in the appetizers, and Jack complained about sex pollen week to Liliana before introducing himself to Ignis.

*chittering*

No, that wasn't really a smooth transition, I agree. Deal with it. Stewart didn't understand garden parties but showed up anyway, Steven and Watts were thrilled by vegan food--someone has to be, I suppose--and then Steven tried to explain why he and Watts aren't married to Liliana before saying hi to Ignis and telling Stark about his upcoming trip to Greece. He also told Nell about it. Watts got a history lesson about Liliana's last name before saying hello to Ignis and Stark. Adrian was greeted by Luma and Lydia, Liliana, Ignis, and Rey. Popular guy.

Liz and Prompto talked about getting Noctra to nap, but Liz also complimented the party to Liliana and Ignis. Liliana praised Steve for letting Tony throw him a birthday party, and Steven apologized for missing the upcoming party because he's going to Greece. Liliana wanted Flint to open the bookstore more often, Lana brought congratulatory wine, Hannibal decided that an engagement party was a good time to tell Liliana about his cursed weddings, and Jon's presence reminded Liliana that she should re-teach her self-indulgence class. And Nell's dress matched Gladio's outfit.

And that's finally everything!

*chittering*

What.

*chittering*

And then people danced under the fancy chandelier. There. Now I'm finished.

*chittering*

No, I will not add more "pizzazz." Enjoy the weekend celebrations, everyone.
